The VAG squib specialists
We do one thing and do it properly: rebuild the airbag squib (clock spring / rotary coupler) on Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Cupra cars. It's the part behind your steering wheel that triggers the airbag warning light and kills your horn, steering-wheel controls and cruise control when it fails.
What we repair
We specialise in the two most common VAG clock springs — the 5K0 953 569 (PQ-platform) and the 5Q0 953 569 (MQB) — fitted across dozens of VW, Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Cupra models from 2008 to today. The letter on the end of your part number (…AE, …AL and so on) is just a VAG revision — we repair every suffix of both.
Fast turnaround, by design
Speed is the whole point. Any squib we receive by 1pm is repaired and dispatched the same day (postal hours permitting) and returned on Royal Mail Tracked 24 for next-day delivery, with return postage included. Prefer to wait? Drive in to our Egham workshop near Heathrow and we hand it back within the hour. Because we rebuild your original unit rather than fit a different part number, there’s no coding or steering-angle calibration afterwards — for a post-in repair you simply clear the stored airbag fault code with a standard diagnostic tool, and on drive-in and mobile jobs we erase it for you.
How we do it — and why it lasts
Strip and inspect
We pinpoint the squib fault and confirm the root cause before any work begins.
Rebuild with OEM parts
Worn or snapped ribbon cables are replaced with OEM items using OEM repair methods — we never solder, as that only leads to short-lifespan fixes.
Test and verify
We test every squib for continuity and function before we send it back, backed by a 12-month workmanship warranty.
- Genuine OEM components and OEM repair methods — we never solder, as soldered repairs fail early
- Worn or snapped ribbon cables replaced, not bodged
- Every unit bench-tested for continuity and function before it goes back
- No recoding needed — your original unit goes straight back in; just clear the stored fault code (we erase it for you on drive-in / mobile jobs)
- 12-month workmanship warranty on every repair (only exclusion: hair ingress)
